Cover Love - Wolfsbane by Andrea Cremer

Andrea Cremer revealed the cover of Wolfsbane, the sequel to Nightshade.

Will be released on July 12, 2011

Nightshade was the subject of my ver first Cover Love Post, and the cover was even better in person. It's shimmery!

I like how the Wolfsbane cover is similar, uniting the covers as a series: same author/title/blurb setup, same blood drip, same basic placement of the model. But, these greens are so much brighter and warmer, we see more of Calla's face, and while Cremer liked how the vines seemed to cage Calla, the cover feels much more open. In fact, the Nightshade cover seems so cold and distant in comparison, does this mean Calla will be opening up/ warming up more? At least warming up to her real self, as opposed to trying to be this ideal that everyone wanted her to be? And as I continue to look at it, Calla appears wilder in the first cover and a bit more tame in the second. Hrm, what could all of this mean? Or am I imagining things?

And more importantly, will this cover be shimmery also? (Sparkly is my favorite color)

Back in August, Cremer posted some pictures of the Wolfsbane cover shoot (all contests mentioned in the post have ended). It's always neat to see how these things get put together.

I would also like to say a BIG thank you to Release Date Gods for releasing Wolfsbane in the summer when I'm in the states so I can get it RIGHT AWAY! None of this nonsense of waiting for Amazon to ship it out to Dubai. Yes, that's right, I've already pre-ordered my copy. Now I just have to figure out if I'm going to be in Arkansas or Ohio in July so I know where to ship it. Eeeee!

I'm not an art expert, but I believe the reason it seems "open" is that, for Nightshade, there's Calla and then there's the flower in front of her, and that's it. Whereas with Wolfsbane, there's Calla, there's scenery both in front of and behind her, creating the impression of a three-dimensional space.

What I notice about it most, though? Where did Calla find time to get a dye job? 0_o

I think this cover is beautiful, though I do agree with you on the coolness of Nightshade and the warmth of Wolfsbane. I just love the purple and green, they compliment each other nicely and I'm definitely hoping Wolfsbane sparkles as well. Thanks for sharing Jennifer!

I liked the Nightshade cover, but I think Wolfsbane's cover blows Nightshade out of the water with it's gorgeousness!

What gets me is that it feels so different from Nightshade. I really do love the green, but I'm still pulled by the cotton-candy-wonderfullness of the first cover.

Super cool cover! I have to read Nightshade. I like how they are similar too. I hope it's sparkly! I didn't know you lived in Dubai. Awesomeness!! Now, I know why my map stats had a visitor from Saudi Arabia. LOL

@ Anonymous - I loved how you slowly started to realize things with NIGHTSHADE. At one point I sat up and said, " Holy Shit! They're .....", my husband just looked at me like I was nuts. Unfortunately, I've no idea when the Australian release would be.

Does anyone ,by any chance, at least know if the release date in Australia is close to the one in America?
